Land Opposite The Maypole - Lambourne Road

Last week, Chigwell Parish Council received complaints regarding the length of grass at a small area of land opposite the Maypole junction, at the intersection of Lambourne Road and Gravel Lane, Chigwell.

Following these concerns, officers of the Parish Council undertook prompt enquiries to establish ownership and responsibility for the land. This work was carried out in collaboration with the relevant County Councillor and involved engagement with Essex County Council.

As a result of these enquiries, Essex County Council has reviewed and verified its records and confirmed that the land falls under its responsibility for maintenance. The County Council has now instructed its maintenance team to include this location within its scheduled grass cutting programme.

Historically, and in good faith, Chigwell Parish Council has responded to public concerns by arranging for this area to be cut on an ad hoc basis as a gesture of goodwill. However, it was important to ensure that the matter was formally resolved and that ongoing responsibility was clearly established.

The Parish Council is pleased to confirm that this issue has now been appropriately addressed, ensuring clarity for residents and a sustainable approach to future maintenance.
