Grass Cutting Has Resumed Across Chigwell Parish

Published: 15 September 2026

Following the recent period of exceptionally hot and dry weather, which resulted in a temporary pause to grass cutting activities across Chigwell Parish Council owned and managed land, we are pleased to confirm that our grass cutting programme has now resumed.

This week, our grounds maintenance team will be undertaking grass cutting works at:

  • Courtland Drive
  • The Paddocks
  • Barnaby Way
  • Brook Way

The temporary suspension was necessary due to the extreme weather conditions. Cutting grass during prolonged periods of heat and drought can place additional stress on grassed areas and increase the risk of fire associated with mowing equipment. Delaying works ensured that both public safety and the condition of our open spaces were protected.

We would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding during this period. The Council remains committed to maintaining its parks, open spaces and amenity land to a high standard and will continue to monitor conditions to ensure maintenance activities are undertaken safely and effectively.
