Planning Consultation – Land East of Hainault Road, Chigwell

Chigwell Parish Council is aware of the considerable interest and concern among residents regarding the outline planning application for land east of Hainault Road, Chigwell (Application Reference: EPF/0729/26).

We recognise that residents have raised concerns about the consultation timetable, including the time available to review the extensive planning documentation and prepare considered responses.

In response to these concerns, the Parish Clerk has formally contacted Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) to request an extension to the current consultation period, allowing residents and other interested parties additional time to consider the proposals and submit their representations.

We have therefore taken this matter up directly with the District Council and are awaiting a response.

Planning Committee Meeting – Change of Venue

Given the level of public interest in this planning application, the Parish Council has also decided to move its forthcoming Planning Committee meeting, scheduled for Thursday 12 November 2026 at 6.30pm, from the Parish Council Offices to:

Victory Hall
Hainault Road
Chigwell
Essex
IG7 6QX

The change of venue is intended to better accommodate the anticipated public interest and provide additional space for those wishing to attend.

We appreciate that residents feel strongly about this application and understand the importance of ensuring everyone has a reasonable opportunity to participate in the planning process.

We would ask residents to allow the Parish Council time to receive a response from EFDC, rather than making repeated individual requests to the Parish Clerk to contact the District Council on the same matter.

Please be assured that we have listened to the concerns raised and have taken the requested action.

In the meantime, residents wishing to make representations about the planning application should continue to refer to the official Epping Forest District Council planning portal and submit their comments directly to the District Council.
