Update: Planning Consultation – Land East of Hainault Road, Chigwell

Chigwell Parish Council is aware of the considerable interest and concern among residents regarding the outline planning application for land east of Hainault Road, Chigwell (Application Reference: EPF/0729/26).

We recognise that residents have raised concerns about the consultation timetable, including the time available to review the extensive planning documentation and prepare considered responses.

In response to these concerns, the Clerk of Chigwell Parish Council has formally contacted Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) to request an extension to the current consultation period, allowing residents and other interested parties additional time to consider the proposals and submit their representations. We have therefore taken this matter up directly with the District Council and are currently awaiting a response.

Planning Committee Meeting – Change of Venue and Start Time

Given the exceptional level of public interest in this planning application, the Parish Council has relocated its forthcoming Planning Committee meeting from the Parish Council Offices to Victory Hall and has also brought forward the start time to allow additional time for public participation and consideration of the application.

The meeting will therefore take place as follows:

The change of venue and earlier start time are intended to better accommodate the anticipated public attendance and ensure adequate time is available for Members to consider the application and any representations received.

We appreciate that residents feel strongly about this proposal and understand the importance of ensuring everyone has a reasonable opportunity to participate in the planning process.

We would ask residents to allow the Parish Council time to receive a response from EFDC, rather than making repeated individual requests for the Parish Clerk to contact the District Council on the same matter. Please be assured that the concerns raised by residents have been heard and the requested action has been taken.

In the meantime, residents wishing to make representations regarding the planning application should continue to use the official Epping Forest District Council Planning Portal and submit their comments directly to the District Council.
