Charlie Quirke - Trek 'For a Cure' - ARUK

Published: 10 December 2025

Early on Monday morning (8th December), Charlie Quirke, the son of actress Pauline Quirke, set off from Victory Hall, Chigwell, to embark on a 140km five-day trek 'For a Cure' in support of Alzheimer's Research UK. Charlie's aim is to raise money and awareness in the search for a cure for this devastating illness.

Pauline Quirke, who along with her co-stars put Chigwell firmly on the map with the hit 1990s TV series 'Birds of a Feather', was diagnosed with dementia in 2021. Charlie's trek will take him through five counties, and he will be visiting places that hold a special meaning for Pauline and the family, including West Ham United Football Club and the family home where Pauline grew up.

Fellow actors and long-time friends Linda Robson and Ray Winstone also joined Charlie at the start of his walk from Chigwell, which was covered by BBC Breakfast.

Parish Councillors Jamie Braha (Chair), Debby Rye (Vice Chair), Lisa Morgan and Erika Skingsley were at Victory Hall to represent all of our residents and to wish Charlie the very best of luck for his challenge.

On behalf of Chigwell Parish Council, we wish Charlie the greatest success in this very worthy cause, and our heart-felt wishes go out to Pauline, her family, and all of those people who have dementia or who are caring for somebody who is suffering with it.
