Welcome to the Clerk
Published: 14 January 2026
We’re delighted to welcome Jason Selvarajah as our new Parish Clerk and Proper Officer and are excited to have him joining the team supporting councillors, residents and the wider community.
Jason recently retired from policing after a fulfilling career, bringing extensive public-sector leadership experience to the role. A Chief Inspector since 2020, he has held strategic responsibility for strategy, staffing, governance, finance and service delivery across eight police stations and a large operational area. In that capacity, he directly led substantial teams, including Inspectors, Sergeants, officers and staff and is well-practised in setting clear direction, supporting people, and delivering results.
Throughout his career, Jason has a strong track record of improving services and building effective partnerships. His roles have included driving performance improvement, overseeing district operations, leading complex projects, developing business cases, and managing significant budget, experience that translates directly into the Clerk’s responsibilities of ensuring the Council is well-governed, well-advised and well-supported.
Alongside his operational leadership, Jason brings strong governance credentials. He was also a Non-Executive Director at his local hospital trust, contributing to strategic oversight through committee work focused on patient safety, quality, people and culture. He is values-driven and guided by the Nolan Principles of Public Life, with a people-first approach and a commitment to high standards.
Jason has personal and family links to Epping Forest. He’s looking forward to getting to know the community, supporting the Council and staff team, and helping us deliver the best for residents.
Please join us in giving Jason a very warm welcome, we’re all delighted he’s here
